Job Details

POGUST GOODHEAD now requires an Associate to join our litigation practice in the Amsterdam office. The ideal candidate will have excellent management and cross-border litigation experience with a keen interest in one or more of the following fields:

  • Environmental protection and Human rights;
  • Data protection;
  • Consumer product liability;
  • Medical product liability;
  • Competition law.

We are looking for Associates with 3 to 6 years’ experience working as an attorney at a top-rated law firm in the Netherlands, who are able to work independently on live matters, engage in business development activities and provide excellent support to the Senior Associates and Partners in order to implement various legal strategies. The opportunities will range from drafting legal submissions and memoranda to partaking in the management of case strategy and maintaining communications with external parties, clients, and co-counsel. We are looking for candidates who are looking to grow in a firm where they will be given responsibilities in the day-to-day conduct of litigation cases. Role & responsibilities and core competencies

  • Work with the team on large, complex and fast paced contentious cases, including multi-jurisdictional disputes.
  • Conduct research, drafting and reviewing of documentation.
  • Manage meetings effectively by setting clear agendas.
  • Assist the firm in achieving its professional objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with co-counsel, expert witnesses, funders, claim foundations and other external parties.
  • Manage legal documentation and demonstrate effective case management.
  • Contribute to POGUST GOODHEAD’s business developments, including raising the firm’s profile by partaking in marketing activities and contributing to the firm’s publications

Requirements

What you’ll bring to POGUST GOODHEAD:

Essential

  • Completed professional training (beroepsopleiding)
  • Master’s degree in law
  • Bachelor’s degree in Dutch law
  • Fluent in English (written and oral)
  • Strong technical skills
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in litigation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand the clients’ needs and an ability to adopt the best-case strategy.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy to produce work which is consistently of a high standard.
  • Very strong organisational skills, file management and time/record keeping.
  • Confident communicator able to work calmly under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by previous collaborative work with external and internal parties.
  • Demonstrate flexible approach to work to ensure client deadlines are met and clients are communicated with efficiently.
  • Have empathy and passion for the clients we represent.
  • Experience in class actions / collective redress
  • Experience in environmental protection, securities litigation, competition or consumer/medical product liability fields
  • Experience in bro-bono or social justice/human rights work
