Due to increased volumes of work (and one vacancy), an opportunity has arisen for two self-assured Solicitors/Barristers/Chartered Legal Executive Advocate with practical experience in the relevant areas of public family law.

These are two separate progression posts (Levels 8-10), and it is anticipated that the successful candidates will be appointed at the bottom of the Level 10 grade. However, in the event it is not possible to recruit at the higher level, we will consider applications from less experienced candidates, who would like to develop with some support and guidance and will fit the criteria for Level 9. Please refer to the job description for a fuller explanation of requirements.

About the role

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and high performing team in a permanent role. You will be involved with all aspects of legal work arising from Children’s Social Care with an emphasis on child protection advice and conducting childcare cases through both a pre-proceedings process and the court. The post will involve attending the Family Court at Bristol to undertake advocacy on behalf of the Local Authority.

This position is designated as mobile working (majority home-based). The office base is currently at our Castlewood offices in Clevedon. Please be advised that this office will be closed by 2025. Consultation is currently underway to determine the new location for colleagues based in Castlewood. This will be at Weston-Super-Mare or within North Somerset.

About you

Qualified solicitor holding a practicing certificate.

Qualified barrister holding a practicing certificate.

Chartered Legal Executive holding the relevant advocacy qualification (i.e., family).

In addition to being able to manage a full caseload, you will need excellent communication, analytical and drafting skills, competent ICT skills, be self-motivated and demonstrate a high level of commitment to this demanding area of law.
