County Hall- Mold & Hybrid working

Full Time - 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity for a qualified solicitor, barrister or CILEX equivalent to join our busy and friendly team of legal professionals.

The work ranges from clerking school admission and exclusion appeals as part of a wider team to conducting litigation in the criminal courts and education tribunals and everything in between.  No two days will be the same.  You will have significant opportunities to conduct their own advocacy but will also work closely with various Counsel and support staff and will have the benefit of a modern cloud-based case management system allowing significant work from home and legal resources, including practical law. 

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Council’s in house legal team, helping the Council meet its strategic objectives, helping to ensure compliance with statutory duties and delivering good governance by providing expert legal advice and representation.  They will be a team player, with a good eye for detail and excellent organisations skills.  They will have a flexible approach to work and be able to provide a degree of mentoring and training to junior members of the team.  There will significant opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their profile and skills and to play an important role in delivering positive change and benefits to the local community. 

There is no minimum period of post-qualified experience required for this role however some expertise of working within – or for - local government, particularly in Wales, would likely be an advantage as would experience of criminal litigation or education law.  However, training and support will be provided to the successful applicant so candidates may also be able to demonstrate transferable skills, for example broad legal experience in contentious work or other relevant areas. 

Welsh speaking and writing skills are desirable.
