Based in Southampton, the Southampton, Fareham & Havant Legal Partnership is an outcome-focused service recognised for its dedication to improving the communities in which we live and work and delivering professional excellence. We provide strategic and professional advice and services covering all aspects of local government law.

We currently have a vacancy on our management team for a Senior Solicitor / Team Leader to lead our very active commercial property and procurement team. We are seeking an experienced lawyer with supervisory experience, providing expert advice in commercial property law and leading a multi disciplinary commercial team. The Team operates in a fast paced, proactive and dynamic client focused way with our three Council clients, and you would be leading a highly performing team reporting directly to the Head of Legal Partnerships. This role requires someone with leadership skills, enthusiasm and dynamism and prepared to bring a fresh approach and drive to a team which handles a wide-ranging caseload of predominantly commercial matters including multi partner projects and instructions.

The Council has a fully flexible working system that includes home/hybrid working, with adaptable working hours subject to meeting our clients’ needs. As this is a supervisory role some regular office attendance will be required for team, management and client meetings as well as taking part in a regular in-office Duty Solicitor rota.

The current salary is up to £61,658 plus benefits which include:

The Council is looking for a practising Solicitor or Barrister with demonstrable experience and excellent knowledge of commercial property law. You will need strong leadership and inter-personal, drafting, negotiating and advisory skills and competence with IT and case management systems. The successful candidate will demonstrate an enabling, positive approach to finding solutions to complex problems as well as the ability to anticipate and adapt to business and client needs, appreciate risk management issues and work flexibly across a multi-skilled team.

Additional Information:

Please note the salary quoted is based on full time hours (37 hours).

Working hours 37 per week.
