Senior Lecturer in Law

Are you looking for a move from legal practice into academia? This could be the role for you.

Our Law School is currently recruiting for a Senior Lecturer in Law to join us here at the University of Derby. This is a part-time role, working 0.6 FTE (3 days per week) and is a fixed-term contract until 28 February 2026.

If you’re a practising solicitor, qualified to practice in England and Wales and have sound experience of immigration law, this is your chance to make a real difference – for our students, clients and your career. Dividing your time between supervising and training students in the Immigration Clinic of the Student Legal Advice Centre and developing the clinic’s services, you will assist in moulding the next generation of lawyers.

Skills

As well as being qualified to practice law and having a specialism in Immigration Law, you’ll have a good honours degree in a relevant discipline and demonstrable experience of delivering effective learning, teaching and assessment in higher education to undergraduate and postgraduate students. With excellent knowledge of immigration law in practice and achievement in the area reflected in a growing and consistent national reputation, you will communicate with clarity and be committed to a high-quality student experience.
