We are looking to recruit Lecturers and Senior Lecturers to join us at our friendly and supportive Birmingham Campus located in the Jewellery Quarter.  This is a campus-based position where you will teach across a portfolio of law subjects, working 35 hours per week. It is worth mentioning that on occasions teaching can be up until 5.45pm and we provide year-round teaching.

We are seeking qualified Solicitors or Barristers or Experienced Law Lecturers with legal practice experience. 

We are open to applicants in all areas of law but have a particular need for individuals who are willing to teach corporate law.

Please note: These are full time permanent positions. We will also consider applicants for part time working with a minimum commitment of 3 days per week.

As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at The University of Law, you will:

  • Teach and assess across the University of Law course portfolio in such subjects assigned to you. This will include teaching and assessing students across a range of written and oral skills and giving individual feedback on students’ performances.
  • Assist in the preparation of assignments and assessments.
  • Participate in course design and review.
  • Act as an academic coach to students, including being available and willing to discuss students’ problems as they arise, their performance and academic progression
  • Assist in marketing, widening participation and extra-curricular events.
  • Supervise student dissertations and research projects.

We are looking for individuals who are/have:

  • Degree (any subject) or equivalent
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PgCHE)*
  • (For Senior Lecturers – Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and PgCHE are both required)
  • Qualified solicitor or qualified barrister or Paralegal or A relevant academic/pedagogical/teaching background with practical legal knowledge/experience
  • Excellent oral clarity, written and presentation skills
  • Engaging, professional and committed to teaching
  • Experience of teaching in a Higher Education setting or an educational establishment

 *If you are applying for the Lecturer position and do not currently have/are not undertaking a PgCHE or an equivalent qualification, it is a requirement that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), within 18 months of passing probation.

Please note - For Senior Lecturers: You will have developed significant expertise in application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessments and marking, team leadership.
