Prospect is a leading trade union delivering support, representation, and a collective voice for over 156,000 members. We employ around 250 staff.

Our members want to get on at work. They work across the public and private sectors, in a diverse range of specialist occupations, in public service, energy, science, heritage, defence, creative and digital. We aim to get the best deal for our members by using evidence, effective advocacy, and building partnerships – while never being scared to call employers out when they get things wrong.

Diversity is a core value of the trade union movement, and we are passionate about promoting equality at work and are committed to it for all staff; therefore, we would be particularly interested in applications from groups that are underrepresented in the workplace.

Prospect is a great place to work - this role has access to our high-quality defined benefit pension scheme and 33 days annual leave each year. We offer a good work-life balance, flexible working options and support for training and development.

We are now looking for a Solicitor to provide specialist advice and representation on employment law and provide representation in employment tribunal cases. The role is based in our London office and is part of our Legal Department. The successful candidate will report to the General Counsel and Head of Legal. They will advise officers, representatives and the wider membership on complex legal issues, relating to individual and collective employment law; run employment tribunal cases; contribute to policy development and develop and deliver training.

Qualified solicitor with at least 3 years’ post qualification experience. Specialist knowledge of employment law and an ability to manage and advise on complex case work. Experience of handling Employment Tribunal cases. Ability to analyse and evaluate legal information and disseminate accordingly. Experience of working proactively, self-managing time and workload. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, representatives, members, employers, and wider stakeholders. Have strong planning, organising, analytical and problem-solving skills. Wants to make the world of work better for everyone through promoting membership and the values of the trade union movement.
