Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer – London – up to £50 per hour – Hybrid Working

Position: Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer  

Organisation: London based Local Authority

Duration: 3 months with the possibility for an extension

Working Pattern: Full time

Working Arrangement: 1 day per week office attendance

Hourly Rate: Up to £50 per hour (dependent upon experience)

Venn Group's esteemed legal team collaborates with a Local Authority based in London currently in search of an Adult Social Care lawyer to enhance their expanding team

The role of Locum Adult Social Care Lawyer is offered for an initial 3 month period with the potential for an extension based on performance and requirement. This position will allow you to play a pivotal role in handling Adult Social Care matters for the Local Authority

The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive (CILEx) with a proven track record within Local Government

Duties Shall Include:

1. Mental Capacity Law: Handle cases and provide expert legal advice concerning issues of mental capacity, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices
2. Mental Health: Advise and represent clients on matters related to mental health law, including detention, treatment, and discharge under the Mental Health Act
3. Section 117: Manage and provide guidance on cases involving Section 117 of the Mental Health Act, including aftercare planning and funding disputes
4. Ordinary Residence: Offer legal Counsel on issues related to the ordinary residence, navigating complex residency disputes and ensuring accurate application of the law
5. Inquests: Represent clients in inquest proceedings, prepare necessary documentation, and liaise with coroners to ensure thorough and respectful handling of cases
6. Court of Protection Litigation: Conduct litigation in the Court of Protection, advocating for clients' best interests in cases concerning health, welfare, and financial decisions
