Job Details

Our National Litigation Unit is seeking an Assistant Lawyer to manage a caseload of straightforward fast track ex-portal accident cases, including Road Traffic Accidents, Employers' Liability, and Public Liability cases for union members and their families.

This is a 12 Month Fixed-Term contract.

Our Assistant Lawyers litigate a full caseload of fast track ex-portal accident cases (RTA, EL, PL) for union members and clients, ensuring all aspects of the case are handled from initiation to conclusion. They identify cases that require transfer to the Branch network due to value, specialist type, or profile.

They also exercise judgement in making decisions on cases, with appropriate supervision, and manage cases through court directions, including dealing with the issue and service of proceedings, responding to defences, and handling interim applications.

We are keen to hear from experienced lawyers with a strong understanding of personal injury law, CPR, rules on evidence, litigation processes, and funding. As well as a background in handling fast track EL/PL PI claims and running a caseload independently, the ability to assess and advise on evidence, liability, and quantum is key.

As providing clear communication throughout the client's litigation process is a central part of the role, the ability to work proactively and empathetically with clients and maintaining good client relationships is fundamental.

  • Healthcare Cash Plan (Medicash)
