Planning Solicitor / Associate (5+ PQE) – East Anglia

Are you an experienced Planning Solicitor looking for an exciting opportunity with a firm that truly values work-life balance and flexibility? Our client, a regionally leading law firm with a deeply embedded culture of home working and flexibility, is seeking a Planning Solicitor/Associate to join their dynamic team. You can be based at any of their East Anglia offices: Ipswich, Norwich, Cambridge, or Bury St Edmunds.

The Planning Team

Our client's diverse client base includes residential developers, agricultural and equine-related development, commercial buildings, affordable housing providers, local planning authorities, Parish Councils, and private individuals. They handle a wide range of planning, highways, historic environment, and environmental services.

The Role

As a key member of the planning team, you will support the firm’s planning services in collaboration with the Commercial Property and Development teams. Your main responsibilities will include:

• Project development and appraisal
• Handling planning appeals
• Managing judicial reviews
• Drafting and negotiating infrastructure agreements
• Conducting funding due diligence
• Addressing enforcement issues
• Processing certificates of lawfulness
• Handling public rights of way issues, including diversions and definitive map modification orders (desired but not essential)
• Managing Compulsory Purchase Orders (desired but not essential)  

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of post-qualification experience in a similar environment, with excellent client and team communication skills. You should demonstrate a willingness to help develop the future of the planning team and be able to deliver tailored advice and solutions to clients.
