Solicitor - Property Damage

About your new role

We are looking to recruit a Solicitors to support the national Property Damage team (which is part of the Speciality team), primarily with subrogated recovery work. 

Our Property Damage team acts for insurers, companies and local authorities. We act in relation to all types of property damage losses, including those caused by major fires, floods, building collapse, escape of water and subsidence.

 What we do: 

  • Subrogated recoveries from third parties
  • Defence of claims made against policyholders

 Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactive management of own caseload with supervision
  • Assisting senior lawyers with their subrogated recovery caseloads
  • Preparing reports, correspondence and court documents
  • Advising clients in relation to issues of liability
  • Liaising with insurer and insured clients, experts, witnesses, counsel and other parties
  • Ensuring compliance with client service level agreements, relevant policies and procedures
  • Supporting business development initiatives
  • Completion of management information
  • Assisting with other property damage work
  • Working in accordance with Weightmans’ values

About You

  • Experience of property damage subrogated recovery claims is essential
  • Ability to work to deadlines / targets, to prioritise and manage a caseload and to work under pressure to deliver effective solutions
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • A commercial, solution-driven and client-focused approach
  • Strong legal and analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills
