Location: This opportunity can be based in either of our offices in the coastal charm of Hove, East Sussex, or the bustling heart of Mayfair in London.
About the job.
In order to support our rapid expansion and increasing clientele, we are actively recruiting for two Private Client Solicitors to join our distinguished and dedicated team. It will offer an exceptional platform for a solicitor with 1-3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) who are eager to advance their career and a further solicitor with 3 years + PQE looking to take their career to the next level.
Our Private Client Solicitors will take an active role in amplifying our firm’s business development efforts through blog contributions and networking engagements. They will forge meaningful collaborations with our esteemed charity partners, playing a pivotal role in our pioneering Community Wills Sussex initiative. This valuable scheme involves the provision of free will-writing services in partnership with five of Sussex’s most respected local charities, in collaboration with Britton and Time Solicitors.
The responsibilities for these roles encompass managing your own caseload, with support from the wider private client team. These roles will entail drafting wills, trusts, tax and estate structuring advice, and powers of attorney. You will also be regularly meeting with clients to take instructions and assist with the witnessing and signing of legal documents. These positions will actively manage and drive forward the administration of estates and on occasions, may be required to support by note-taking with senior members of the team.
A bit about you.
You will have experience drafting wills and trusts, letters and documents while following and adhering to established precedents. You will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of wills, trusts, probate and powers of attorney and have knowledge of the relevant reliefs and tax bands, particularly concerning IHT and CGT.
You will possess exceptional client-handling and negotiation skills, robust verbal and written communication abilities and a commitment to establishing strong client relationships. You will demonstrate empathy and discretion and have the ability to build rapport with clients whilst networking. You will exhibit meticulous attention to detail, along with exceptional organisational skills.
Efficient file management is of utmost importance, including meeting deadlines, adhering to established precedents and uploading letters and documents onto the case management system, therefore, proficiency in computer skills is a prerequisite for this role. Proficiency in using case management software, such as LEAP, is an advantage.
Being proactive in driving matters forward and keeping our clients, colleagues and stakeholders well-informed of progress via email, telephone, letter, or in-person interactions are integral aspects of this role. Your efficiency and articulate communication will ensure the highest service standards for our clients.
This role operates within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, under the guidance of our director. Therefore, it is essential that you have excellent time management skills to manage conflicting deadlines and multiple cases.
At Britton and Time Solicitors, we highly value individuals who are self-motivated, results-oriented, and ambitious. We welcome those who are excited to be part of our expansion journey. Our team are known for their fearlessness in tackling challenges, embracing innovation, and thriving on collaborative problem-solving. We are actively seeking individuals who are not just looking for a job but are motivated by the prospect of long-term growth within our company. We are particularly interested in candidates who bring a fusion of passion and purpose, and we’re intrigued by those with an entrepreneurial spirit.
This is your chance to join our driven and dynamic team, contributing to our mission of providing exceptional legal services. To apply, please send your CV and cover letter to careers@brittontime.com with the subject heading as the job title e.g. “Private Client Solicitor”.
