Specialist Prosecutors – Proceeds of Crime

Are you a talented lawyer looking to take the next step in your career? Being a Specialist Prosecutor with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) Proceeds of Crime (POC) division means that you will be at the forefront of delivering justice.

CPS Proceeds of Crime (CPS POC) division fight against Economic Crime, ensuring that criminal assets are restrained, confiscated and enforced. Working with law enforcement colleagues in the UK and abroad to use recovery powers to retrieve assets, and providing advice to CPS Areas for prosecuting such cases. CPS POC also deal with civil litigation that may arise from the exercise of prosecutorial functions of the CPS.

We are looking for applicants who are experts in proceeds of crime work, who can help develop and maintain operational relationships with criminal justice partners at a local level. They will also conduct cases in Enforcement Courts and, where the post holder has the appropriate Higher Court Advocacy (HCA) qualifications, conduct confiscations hearings, drafting the appropriate applications, legal arguments and other legal documentation in support of those hearings.  There are 3 different types of posts available:

 

  • General specialist prosecutors who will deal with complex casework in partnership with other CPS employees and external stakeholders
  • Specialist prosecutors working on specialist cases around asset recovery investigations conducted by Regional Asset Recovery Teams
  • Specialist prosecutors working on specialist cases around asset recovery conducted by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
